Welcome (back) to the former home of the UK TV Freelancers community.
You may remember this project as one of the first to champion the employment rights of freelancers in the TV industry, supporting the TV Wrap campaign in 2005. Since then, the work which began here has been continued by others elsewhere - mainly through the TV Watercooler in collaboration with BECTU.
This site is being revived as a potential resource for research data into the industry - with potential, for example, to re-establish the rates and employer databases that were so popular here a decade ago. What would you like to see TV Freelancers doing?
We're overhauling our mailing list - so please use the box above if you want to leave the list, or sign up.
ARE YOU JUST STARTING OUT IN TV OR FILM?
A separate research project is running, following the experiences of brand new workers in the film and TV industries over the first two years of their careers. The research is designed to establish the nature of the most common challenges during this period, and also to explore the kinds of skills and attributes that help people to get started. If you are just about to start looking for your first work in the industry - or within a year of your first day of professional work, whether paid or unpaid - researchers would love to follow how you get on. You'll find more information about the research on this Facebook page, or on the sign-up page
