How holiday entitlement is
calculated
Once you have worked for a month,
you have the right to request paid holiday from your employer.
For every thirteen days worked you are entitled to have one day's
paid holiday within those thirteen days, ie 12 days work and
one day paid holiday.
All you have to do is divide
the number of days in your contract by 13, and round the figure
up to the nearest half-day.
Supposing you work for eight
weeks, doing six-day weeks.
8 x 6 days = 48 days worked
48 divided by 13 = 3.7, which
you round up to 4.
So within the eight six-day
weeks of your contract, you are entitled to four days paid holiday.
At the end of your contract, if you haven't taken all four days,
you're entitled to payment in lieu of any days still owed.
